What is Red Light Therapy?

You may have heard about "RLT" - it's one of the newer buzz words in the medical community and especially Hollywood. It stands for Red Light Therapy and the benefits can be very helpful to those walking through cancer treatments and for those that aren't.
What makes this so intriguing? Well, some of those in Hollywood are claiming it's the new fountain of youth but for the rest of us it's a resource for healing. This therapy uses light panels with wavelengths between 600-900 nanometers. The light penetrates the skin and can repair your body at the cellular level. Imagine being able to help repair your body damaged by rogue cancer cells and invasive chemo or radiation treatments. Now, I'm not saying this is a miracle cure, but it's certainly a tool to investigate as part of your treatment protocol.
Not only does RLT help repair your cells, it can also reduce pain, inflammation, and promotes collagen production (insert the Hollywood craze and desire to look younger!). For the cancer patient inflammation is one of your worst enemies and this is a great tool to help you keep your balance and feel better.
When I first discovered Red Light Therapy I found a fantastic little clinic that had the industrial panels. It was amazing and I did actually feel more relaxed and overall a little more balanced. Unfortunately this clinic closed their doors shortly after I found them and I was forced to look at other options. You can find RLT panels for home use. I will admit that I purchased mine from Amazon. I dedicated a small space for two panels and use a yoga mat for a little extra padding. If you decide you want to invest in your own home panels I would just urge you to read the reviews and do your homework before buying. I am very satisfied with mine and believe it helps my inflammation. I have started turning on some soft music and trying to clear my mind to truly take advantage of this dedicated time.

If you have a clinic or wellness center that offers red light therapy I would encourage you to give it a try a couple of times and see how you like it. If you have the means to keep going it's absolutely a great resource for your health!
